Message to the Muslim Communities in New Zealand and beyond

17 March 2019 | General Interest

The Missionary Franciscan Sisters express our deepest sorrow and sympathy to the Muslim communities in New Zealand and beyond who are suffering following the terrible events in Christchurch on Friday.

We offer our most sincere sympathy in particular to the family and friends of those who lost their lives and to those who were injured. We pray that you will find comfort and strength in the love of family and friends.

We hope that the many expressions of sympathy and comfort flowing from the wider community will assure you that your community does not stand alone and that the vast majority of us embrace you as our neighbours and friends.

The Missionary Franciscan Sisters lived and worked in Egypt for many, many decades. There we worked and prayed alongside our Muslim brothers and Sisters in respect, peace, friendship and harmony. We have experienced what is our desire for communities everywhere.

We share your belief in the God who is peace, justice and most merciful.
