PNG pioneer on last journey

Sr M Rose Wooden (Claire) died this week after a long illness. She was 90. Sr M Rose was among the first group of Sisters to leave Australia for Papua New Guinea in 1949. She served there for 48 years. May she rest in peace.

Celebrating 140 years of foundation.

Today members of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception celebrated 140 years since their foundation. This year also marks the 90th anniversary of the death of our founder Elizabeth Hayes.

Sister Frances Crowe (Sr M. Angela) died this morning

Sr Frances Crowe slipped quietly from life this morning. Frances had been in hospital following heart surgery four weeks ago. Her sister Kathleen who had travelled from Ireland was with her when she died as was Sr Patricia Treacy.

Franciscans celebrate the passing of St Francis

St Theresa's Parish Church was packed last night for the annual celebration of the Transitus - the passing from life to death of St Francis of Assisi on the eve of his feast day today.

Pilgrims visit Villa Spada in Roma

Sr Pauline Robinson with a number of pilgrims joined with our General Leadership Team to visit Villa Spada which was our first Motherhouse in Rome. The building now houses the Irish Embassy in Rome.
